I haven't been as active on this site as I am over on the Tumblrs, but fret not! I am alive and somewhat well and definitely looking forward to writing again if I can get my brain to function correctly. Darn you, ADHD. I don't have much to update you on, my friends, but I was also tagged by my real-time bestie and partner in crime, the lovely The-Sea-Cat with 13 Questions.

If you could live in any anime universe, which one would it be?
I have a very limited knowledge of anime, being a mainstream consumer. I used to be heavily into Naruto and One Piece back in the day. But I think the universe I would be most at home at would definitely be Sailor Moon. Mostly because I feel like Usgai and myself would be really great friends and I'd be crushing on Sailor Jupiter the whole time.

What's a dish your mom/guardian would make that would always get you excited?
My mom makes the best spaghetti, no lie. When I was a little terror, I used to beg her to make it for either my birthday or for a special occasion. We have a long-lost relative somewhere in Italy that our family doesn't talk about (because he knocked up my great-great grandma Nana and left like an asshole) and I think that's where she gets it from because it literally the best. I can't have any other spaghetti.

What is a skill you have that you would be willing to trade for another? (Like if you could trade your singing voice for the ability to draw effortlessly, or your ability at soccer for the ability to speak any language of your choice)
Ooh, that is a tough one. Well, I think I would trade my weird animal whisperer skill (apparently I am eerily good with animals) for the ability to speak flawless German. I've been crushing on a gentleman from Vienna lately and I'd love to be able to converse with him in a language he's more familiar with.

What is a situation you were caught in that actually turned into an interesting experience?
I've been in a lot of weird situations, but I think one of the most interesting ones was fairly recently when I was working at the Epcot Center in Disney World. I was a greeter in Electric Umbrella and so I would greet and direct the guests to the register where they could order food, so I got to meet a lot of different people. At one point during my shift, there was a little girl around five or six clad resplendently in a Princess Tiana dress with her folks. She appeared to be a bit down and, using my best Disney Voice, I asked the parents if it was all right to try to cheer her up. They looked very tired (anyone would be in 100 degree weather, let me tell you) but nodded, so I got down on my knee and asked "what's wrong, princess?" and she looked at me and said that she was sad because she looked all over the park and couldn't find Tiana who was her absolute favorite princess. I gave her a big smile and said in a stage whisper, "you know, I'm actually really good friends with Tiana and she told me that she was waiting just for you at New Orleans Square in The Magic Kingdom" and this girl's eyes grew about three sizes and she was looking at me like I was Mickey Mouse himself and she turns to her parents and says "she knows Tiana!" and the parents are smiling at me and looked so grateful that I actually knew where the guests could meet Tiana. Apparently, none of the other cast members knew.

If you could meet anyone from history, who would it be?
Anyone who knows me will tell you how I'm a big damn history nerd and I couldn't possibly choose just one so I'll narrow it down to four: Malcolm X, Empress Sisi of Austria, William Shakespeare, and Oscar Wilde

Did you ever have to step in to defend someone or at the very least try to diffuse a situation?
So, my mom has a disability called cataplectic narcolepsy which means that any form of extreme emotion can render her into a semi-conscious state while seizing. When she was diagnosed, she wasn't allowed to drive for a while until she could get regular medication. While on our way home from school at one point, my mother had just gotten clearance to drive and wouldn't ya know it, some knucklehead in a white van runs a red light and smashes into our car before driving off like an asshole. When the cops showed up, the policeman was very condescending and rude to my mother, thinking she was either drunk or high because a) she's a teacher and she looks exhausted anyways and b) he had no idea what cataplexy or narcolepsy was. My mother was in extreme emotional distress trying to explain the situation and a few...let's call them "ladies of the evening" were also trying to say that they saw what happened but he kept ignoring them until I spoke up. Mind, I was eight at the time and was pretty shaken, but I was not about to let some dude arrest my mom when she'd done nothing wrong, so I told him that she couldn't tell him what had happened because she had a disorder that her doctor diagnosed and that he could check with him. I also may or may not have considered kicking him in the shin. I didn't, obviously, but I did think about it.

What's the earliest dream you can remember having in your life? And how old were you when you had it?
I think I was about 13, but I had a dream that I was in the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie (it was one of my many, many phases) and I was one of the ballet girls during Don Juan. I distinctly remember going down to the Phantom's lair after Christine had left with Raoul to follow the Phantom through his mirror door and was determined to give that man a hug. I can't quite remember if I succeeded, but I still remember how determined I was.

What's your favorite type of weather? Or a type of weather that you rarely experience but would like to more often? (For example, I've only experienced a few thunderstorms in my life.)
I LOVE the rain. I absolutely love thunderstorms where there is no lightning and it's just the patter of falling rain and the low rumble of thunder in the middle of autumn. It's just so gloomy and atmospheric and I think I am truly a Gothic Victorian at heart.

If you were in the world of Pokemon, and had the opportunity to make a team or organization, what would it's name be? And would it be for good, or for evil?
Honestly, I don't really know. I loved Team Rocket and Team Skull because the majority of the members really did love their Pokemon and were actually just a bunch of nerds. I think my team would be similar and I'd call it something random like "Team Opportunity" to pay tribute to the space theme since the little rover recently shut down.

What type of sweet is your weakness? Have you ever made yourself sick from eating too much of it?
I will absolutely go nuts for white chocolate Lindt truffles. They are the most delicious sweet I have ever had, and I can never eat enough of them because I can never find them.

If you ever had the opportunity to meet your favorite artist/author/musician, what is one question you would ask them?
After hyperventilating for a few hours, I think I'd ask him what motivated him to direct and write a film like Inglourious Basterds and why he was so hellbent on making about 30% of the movie in English because I've never seen a movie like that before. It managed to hold my attention and peak my interest in other languages, so kudos to Mr. Tarantino.

What is your favorite kind of stone or crystal to wear or at least have on you?
I love me some tiger's eye. There's something so calming about it and the combo of colors.

Have you ever been in a situation where you experienced something really, really cool, but no one else you were with noticed it?
I have a huge interest in ghost hunting and the paranormal, so naturally I drag my family with me to places that are reported to be haunted. My dad and I were on a trip in San Diego and I made him go to Old Town with me and we did a ghost tour of the Whaley House which is reportedly one of the most haunted houses in the US. While we were following our tour guide, I lagged behind because I got really interested in the decorations in the sitting room (everything is left the way it was back when the Whaley family lived there and I am a HUGE nerd for all things Victorian) and then noticed that I got left behind. I headed up the stairs to catch up, but as I was walking I felt something like a little hand tug on my skirt. At first I thought I'd caught it on the banister or a hook or something, but there was nothing there and the air was a little cold around me. One of the guides was waiting for me at the top of the staircase and I asked him if there were any children reported in the hauntings. He told me that some visitors have reported a three year old girl either tugging at their skirts or their hands to give them a sign of her presence and because she liked them. It was doubly eerie because before our group went inside the house, we had done a few other tours of a chapel and a graveyard where a young girl was buried. People often left her things like flowers and little trinkets as a way to honor her memory and to ask if she wouldn't mind giving a sign of her presence. I had left her a few pennies and a pretty rock I'd found on the beach so it was either that three year old girl or it could have been the other girl thanking me for my gift. I'm still not sure to this day!

Here are my questions!

1. Is there a country you'd like to visit? Which one?
2. What is your favorite 90's cartoon?
3. What is the one thing you've always wanted to accomplish?
4. Do you have any pets? What is your fondest memory of a pet?
5. What's the funniest thing you've ever done to an immediate family member?
6. How old were you when you discovered the Internet?
7. What is your favorite kind of book?
8. Have you ever met a personal hero? What did/would you say to them?
9. What kinds of subjects interest you the most?
10. Is there an anime that you feel is overhyped by the Internet? Which one?
11. If you're old enough to drink, what kind of adult beverage do you like? If you're a minor, what kind of drink have you heard of?
12. What's your absolute favorite outfit to wear when you're relaxing?
13. How many pillows do you sleep with?

As for tagging, I would like to tag anyone who has an interest in these questions since I haven't been round for a while and I may have forgotten most of the usernames. xDD Hope to hear from ya'll soon!

So. Where to begin.....

Well, I have returned early from my internship. I actually got back in early in October and I've been in a downward spiral of depression ever since and lacked the motivation to do even the littlest thing. Truth is, I was not ready for Disney. The heat was ungodly, and my "differences" and my disability made it very difficult to get along with my roommates in the apartment I lived in. I had to be moved twice due to disagreements with other applicants. The funny thing? They never told me to my face that they had issues with me. They just went behind my back to Housing and complained and I was escorted to another unit. Eventually, I was threatened with termination if it happened a third time and I decided to leave before I was termed. If you're termed, you can't come back and I didn't want that. Also I was involuntarily confined to a hospital, but I don;t want to go into detail about that. If you want the full story, just message me.

So, I've returned. I'm back here in snowy Alaska and what do ya know, we had a MASSIVE 7.0 earthquake. Everyone is safe and there were no casualties, but we're still feeling the aftershocks and there is major structural damage on roads and buildings. Mama Nature is pissed, ya'll.

I just thought I would check in with you guys as I've been relatively inactive as of late. I'll try to get at least something put up at some point. Message me if you want to talk. Also, fellow Alaskans stay safe out there. The aftershocks are getting a little more aggressive.

Cheers,

So, as ya'll are aware I was accepted into the Disney College Program. I've moved to the dorms on the property and I am happy to say that I have never been better! It's stifling hot here in Orlando, but I am so glad to finally realize my dream of working for The Mouse! :D I won't be on very much in the following weeks due to my schedule, but I will try to get back to you as soon as I can! I love you guys, and I'll keep you updated regarding my Disney journey!

I just adopted not one, but TWO adorable puppies! We got them from a friend of my dad's and they're from one of the villages. Apparently no one wanted them and they were going to give them to the shelter, but my dad said he'd take one. I immediately fell in love with one of the three, and dad fell for another one. So, we wound up with two 8 week old puppies! I will be posting pics of them soon. Their names are Rey and Rose, so named after Star Wars characters because we can't help ourselves. The third one has been adopted as well, but we're letting her stay the night because her owners are busy with a wedding. So there are puppy shenanigans afoot!

Talk to ya'll later!

Guess who bought the screenplay to Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained????

THIS GAL.

OMG Tarantino is my homeboy. I cannot believe what an excellent writer he is. Like the films are great, but to read what he wrote is just FFFFFFF- I might actually take up writing screenplays when I get back from Disney.

Also thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes regarding Frankie. I think she would have loved every single one of you. You guys are the absolute best, seriously.

Wish me well, I'll be off for a few days so I'll have more time to chat. Hope you're all enjoying the summer! Love you!
